How Much Does Blind Cleaning Cost In 2026?

Blind cleaning is priced three ways in the UK, and quotes look inconsistent until you know which you have been given. Some firms charge per blind. Some charge per foot of blind width, the traditional trade unit, still common on venetians. Some charge by the hour, which is what most do with verticals, because the work varies with the number of vanes.

Underneath all three sits a minimum order value. UK price guides put a whole blind cleaning job at £50–£150, averaging about £115 — and that is a house full of blinds, not one. Individual blinds are much cheaper than those totals suggest: £12 low, £30 median, £50 high.

Vertical Blind Cleaning: The One Most People Ask About

Vertical blinds are the type least well served by a per-blind price, because a vertical blind is not one thing. A 1.2 m bedroom window has around 14 vanes; a 3 m patio door has 30 or more. Each vane must be unhooked, stripped of its weight and chain, cleaned, dried flat and rehung the right way round.

That is why the trade quotes £30–£60 an hour rather than a flat rate. At 20–30 minutes per blind, that is roughly £10–£30 per blind outside London, before the minimum order. A few firms quote per vane, the fairest unit — but you will have to ask.

Fabric vanes are also stiffened with a resin coating, and that coating is what makes them hang flat. Anything that cracks or dissolves it — a washing machine above all — leaves limp, creased vanes no drying will rescue.

1. The Blind’s Material And Construction

The dominant driver. Aluminium venetians are the cheapest thing in the trade to clean at around £4 per foot of width, because they go into an ultrasonic tank in batches with no hand work. Then check the firm knows what it will not clean. A good one tells you timber cannot go in an ultrasonic tank, and that some roman blinds belong at a dry cleaner. A cleaner who says yes to everything has not looked at your blinds.

Look for British Blind and Shutter Association membership. It matters beyond craftsmanship: all blinds made and sold since February 2014 must meet BS EN 13120, the child safety standard for cords and chains, and whoever re-hangs your blinds should refit those safety devices correctly.
