Bringing Colour and Joy to Lady Allen Adventure Playground 

As part of the ongoing refurbishment at Lady Allen Adventure Playground, the Fantastic Commercial Services team was proud to support a meaningful community project focused on creating a brighter, more welcoming, and more environmentally friendly space for children to enjoy.

The project aimed to refresh key areas of the site, improve the look and feel of the outdoor space, and help make the playground more inviting for children, families, and the wider community.

Lady Allen Adventure Playground is an accessible green space in the heart of London. Run by Kids, it supports children and young people with special needs and disabilities, as well as their siblings. The playground offers a child-led and child-centred environment where children can explore, play, and build confidence in their own way. With qualified and trained staff nearby, the playground helps children access activities equally, make friends, develop independence, and enjoy memorable moments through play.

As part of its ongoing site refurbishment, the playground team has been working to improve the environment and make the space more engaging, practical, and enjoyable for children. The project focuses not only on appearance but also on the long-term value of the playground. By refreshing existing structures, adding colour, and improving the overall atmosphere, the refurbishment helps preserve a space that supports children’s wellbeing, play, and social development.

Our corporate team members, Yoanna-Nicole Genova and Stanislav Yordanov, gave up their Friday to join the refurbishment effort on site. Working alongside Olivia Green, Trust and Corporate Fundraiser for Kids, they got stuck into handyman tasks and redecoration work — refreshing playground structures, applying bright new colours, and breathing fresh life into areas that had grown tired and worn.

The change, though practical in nature, was deeply visual. Dull surfaces became vibrant. Worn structures became inviting again. A space that children pass through every day started to feel like somewhere worth lingering.

The refurbishment helped transform several areas of the playground, making them look brighter, cleaner, and more engaging. Purple, pink, yellow, and other bold colours were used across wooden and metal structures, creating a cheerful visual identity that fits the spirit of an adventure playground.

The refreshed areas now feel more welcoming and child-friendly. The work helped improve the overall appearance of the site, supporting the wider goal of creating a more beautiful and usable outdoor environment for children.

This activity builds on our continued support for Kids, following a community volunteering day at Hayward Adventure Playground two months earlier. During that visit, our team assisted with cleaning, gardening, and waste removal to help improve the outdoor environment for children and families.

At Lady Allen Adventure Playground, the focus shifted towards redecoration and visual improvement. The aim was simple but important: to help refresh the playground so it feels brighter, more cared for, and ready to be used and enjoyed.

Children’s play spaces are rarely anyone’s headline priority. Funding is tight, maintenance takes time, and the quiet work of upkeep doesn’t always make the news. But the quality of these environments has a real impact on whether children feel safe enough to play freely, whether families feel welcome, and whether a community asset actually gets used.

The team at Lady Allen are doing important work. We were glad to stand alongside them, even just for a day, and contribute to something that will outlast the visit itself.

The paint dries. The colours stay. And children keep coming back to play.

The refurbishment at Lady Allen Adventure Playground is a strong example of how small, practical actions can contribute to a wider community goal. As the site refurbishment continues, Lady Allen Adventure Playground is becoming brighter, more engaging, and better prepared for the children who will use it, explore it, and create memories there for years to come.
